East Africa Visa Guide: Uganda, Kenya & Rwanda Entry Requirements

Emma Davis 6 min readMay 9, 2026

Most nationalities need a visa for Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda, and the good news is you usually don't need three separate ones. The East Africa Tourist Visa covers all three countries on a single entry for 90 days, provided Uganda or Rwanda is your first port of entry.

How it works

  • Apply online before travel — approval typically takes a few business days
  • Valid for multiple crossings between Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda within the 90 days
  • Does not cover Tanzania, which still requires its own separate visa

If your trip only touches one country, a single-country e-visa is usually cheaper than the joint visa. The joint visa pays off the moment your itinerary crosses a border — for example flying into Kigali for gorillas, then driving to Bwindi in Uganda.
