A gorilla trekking permit for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the single line item every Uganda itinerary is built around, and it's also the most-searched question we get: how much, and how do I actually get one.
Permits are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and cap the number of visitors per gorilla family per day, which is why they sell out months ahead in the June–September and December–February peak seasons. Booking 4–6 months in advance is the safe window; for Christmas and New Year, aim for 9–12 months.
