A huge share of Kenya safari searches end with "...plus beach" — and Diani, on the south coast near Mombasa, is the answer most tour operators reach for first. White sand, a coral reef a short boat ride out, and direct flights from Nairobi and the Mara make it an easy add-on rather than a separate trip.
What to plan for
- Kitesurfing and diving are best December–March and July–September
- The reef keeps the water calm for swimming most of the year
- Colobus monkeys are a genuine local feature — the coastal forest strip is a protected corridor for them
Three to four days is enough to properly unwind after a dusty safari without eating too far into the trip's total budget.
